Swim ratification fees support limited reimbursement expenses for our volunteer swim observers and provide the non-profit’s day-to-day expenses for operations, legal, accounting, and liability insurance fees for all NCOWSA and LTOWSA sanctioned swims. All directors and officers serve on a volunteer basis, without pay or remuneration of any kind.
Significant efforts to uphold the integrity of marathon swimming have been instituted by providing trained, unbiased observers, rules, and ratifications committees to validate each swim by using detailed course descriptions and rules in a manner appropriate for the venues and currently accepted marathon open water swimming principles.
We work to make EVERY swim possible. We appreciate that open water swimming is an expensive sport, and we endeavor to be both transparent and fair in our efforts to keep Association and observer fees as low as possible. Limited scholarships available at the discretion of the board, needs-based or for charity swims.
